What to do in a gas emergency - Smell gas / gas leak
We are the UK’s largest gas distribution network, bringing gas to 11 million homes and businesses. We manage a network of more than 82,000 miles of pipes, most of them underground, which transport gas throughout the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England and North London.
Essential engineering work in Chesham will help keep residents connected to safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating. The scheme involves replacing 980 metres of ageing gas mains, with traffic management in place throughout. Work expected to be completed by mid-August.
Ageing gas mains under Brooklands Road, Sale, and the surrounding area will be upgraded from 22 June 2026, lasting eight-weeks, as part of a major investment programme to modernise older sections of the UK’s gas network.
This upgrade is part of Cadent’s commitment to future-proof the gas network, ensuring it is ready to support greener, cleaner gases and reduce methane emissions
